Zim secure gold, silver

TEAM Zimbabwe at the ongoing Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Under-18/Under-20 Championships secured two more medals on Saturday night at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, in Abeokuta.

Takunda Mutizwa leapt his way to a gold medal in the Under-18 men’s triple jump.

The Under-20 men’s 4x100m relay team comprising of Trevor Tauyah, Trey Chimunya, Takomborerwa Muza and Methembe Tshuma then secured silver medal to conclude the day on a positive note.

With his 14.96m jump, Mutizwa set a new personal best.

Zimbabwe now has four medals, with Tatenda Chindowa having won silver in the Under-18 men’s high jump and 4x400m mixed relay got a bronze.

The curtain comes down on the championships this evening and Zimbabwe will up for the 4x400m relays.
