Not only did they receive a lot of credit for the role they played in the funeral and burial of Lindile Dube in Bulawayo, the ZSCU’s membership is growing each day.
The union was formed by disgruntled members of the Zimbabwe Soccer Coaches Association who felt that the mainstream organisation was neglecting the welfare of coaches.
Moses Chunga is the interim leader of ZSCU and they have now established a branch in Bulawayo after a number of coaches in the City of Kings were wooed by their vision.
Chunga yesterday said a substantive leadership would be in place soon.
ZSCU staged a challenge match for their members against Zinara at Alex Sports Club in the capital yesterday and the response, by the number of coaches who took part, was overwhelming.
“We are always here on Fridays playing our colleagues Zinara and it is a platform for us to socialise,” said Chunga.
“Given that now we are in the off-season, we took time to interact as coaches and playing the beautiful game is one of the ways we use.
“Our association is so united and it’s good for us coaches to come together and take stock of what we are doing and the conditions in which we are working under.
“The union is doing well and we look forward to spread these games to others coaches who will be out of the capital,’ Chunga said.
Several coaches spoke highly of the union, which has since taken shape and looks set to grow even stronger in the coming weeks.
