Government has pledged to ensure a peaceful, secure and safe environment for the attainment of socio-economic benchmarks set out in the National Development Strategy 1.
Peace and security has been identified as one of the key enablers for economic revival and realisation of an upper-middle income society by 2030.
In a speech read of his behalf by Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Deputy Minister Ruth Mavhunga Maboyi at a strategic planning workshop here, Minister Kazembe Kazembe said peace was key for the successful implementation of Government programmes.
His ministry, therefore, said Minister Kazembe, should deliver on its mandate against all odds including resource constraints.
“Our ministry should remain cognisant of this critical role of laying a firm, peaceful, secure and safe environment to enable the successful implementation of all Government programmes and projects to facilitate the realisation of the national vision,” he said.
“It is therefore, incumbent upon us all to ensure that, despite the debilitating resource constraints, the ministry’s mandate is meticulously and unequivocally implemented.”
The strategic plan, he said, should lead to the fulfilment of the people’s hopes and aspirations.
To improve service delivery, the ministry is working on an Integrated ICT project which is expected to bring efficiency and harmony to its systems.
It also integrates the executive electronic dashboard (EED) which provides the Presidency instant access to progress on various programmes being undertaken under NDS1 and the 100-day cycles.
