ZIMBABWE will host the ninth edition of the All-Africa Golf Team Championships at Victoria Falls’ Elephant Hills Golf Club from October 8-14.

The event was launched yesterday at Royal Harare. Africa Golf Confederation Southern Region vice-president, Obed Dube, said they were ready to host the prestigious competition.

“We are in our last year for the AGC term after serving for four years and I am happy that we have managed to bring the annual event home.

“The event will have about 17 teams competing for the top accolade and I believe we have a good side for the tournament which is usually dominated by South Africa.

“We began the organ back in 2000 and by 2001 we managed to host our first tournament in South Africa and from there we never looked back and Zimbabwe will this year have an opportunity to host the tournament.

“Countries are requested to send four players along,” said Dube.

The ZGA run 16 amateur tournaments across the country every year and they are used to rank amateur golfers with top players selected to represent the country at regional and international tournaments.
