Zimbabwe’s Afcon cycling team named

NKULUMO Dube and Alex Welsh of Bulawayo have been included in the Zimbabwean team for the upcoming  2015 Africa Road Cycling Championships in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa from February 9 to 14.Cycling Zimbabwe announced the final list of nine cyclists that will be travelling to South Africa yesterday with city boys Dube and Welsh having done enough to book places in the squad.

Chris Kazingizi, the spokesperson of the city’s cycling body, confirmed that only two local cyclists had attained qualifying standards for the South African competition.

Kazingizi said this is the first time that the city would be represented at such a big event in a long time.

Cycling Zimbabwe’s national road co-ordinator Wayne Davidson congratulated the team. Davidson appealed to the corporate world to assist the team which is short of funding for the South Africa trip. The team will be managed by Linda Davidson who will also acts as coach for the tour.
