Dr Obert Moses Mpofu
ONE of the most important questions to ask as a nation journeys towards its ultimate goal of self-determination is: How does one build a successful nation where all its people thrive and enjoy the fruits of the land? The answer to this question is far simpler than what most people think.
It is by creating a pristine political landscape wherein everyone is able to thrive. Zimbabwe’s political landscape has witnessed tremendous changes since the dawn of the New Dispensation. The changes that have occurred so far, all positive by the way, have ensured that there is a breath of fresh air in our politics. For the first time, even the opposition politicians in Parliament or whatever is left of them, have come to acknowledge the positive impact brought about by the Zanu-PF-led Government.
Finally, there is sanity in Zimbabwe’s political landscape. We now have a political landscape that is unspoilt. There is now some quietness after a period of noise made by those without the proper ideology, save for a regime change agenda on behalf of the West. Puppets have no space in Zimbabwe’s political landscape. They will always be rejected by the people. The people have no time to waste on political theatrics. Zimbabweans from across the political divide are coming together to work for the betterment of our beloved nation.
For the first time in a long time, the opposition finds itself dead in the water, unsure as to what tomorrow will bring. The erstwhile promises of good times ahead have all but vanished as a resurgent Zanu-PF has wiped out any hopes of the opposition making something meaningful out of their miserable existence.
The sheer dominance of Zanu-PF in recent times is a clear testament to the bold vision and attractive policies that have been introduced by the Zanu-PF Government under the capable leadership of President Mnangagwa.
Since the 2023 harmonised elections, several by-elections have been held and landslide victories in each of these elections have proven that Zanu-PF is the Party of choice among Zimbabweans. It has become unclear if the opposition exists at all. The tide has changed even for those constituencies that were previously opposition party strongholds.
Zanu-PF has made inroads and won back votes in areas that were previously dominated by the opposition elements. It is now Zanu-PF everywhere. The people’s party is indeed experiencing its golden age. Our Party has not only grown but it has also gone through an impressive process of renewal.
It is now a modern Party capable of meeting all the needs of Zimbabweans. There has been tremendous growth in terms of our Party membership and we have been able to attract people from all sectors of the economy. The Zanu-PF card is now the most sought after commodity in town. Everyone wants some form of association with Zanu-PF.
As we enjoy this recent renaissance, there are obviously those who seek to derail our success and will make attempts to wreck all our efforts. A lot of misinformation and disinformation has obviously been spread by those who cannot fathom the progress that we have made thus far.
There is no denying that we have come a long way and it indeed has been a difficult road. We have come out of the woods and are now enjoying the fruits of our labour. We rightly deserve all the nice things coming our way as a nation.
We have walked a long and difficult road. Anyone who seeks to put a dent on our success and positive achievements is the people’s enemy.
We should not be distracted by sideshows and theatrics being spearheaded by those with no adequate knowledge of our plight and the difficult journey we have traversed so far. The road that lies ahead seems promising. With discipline and respect for leadership as well as adherence to the correct Party line, we are set to achieve all our aspirations and more.
Let us therefore cherish the serenity we enjoy as a nation and everything positive that comes along with it. As a country, we truly deserve a tap on the back for the positive political environment we have created.
