Zimpapers donates state-of-the-art computer, prizes

at Girls High School yesterday.
Zimpapers, together several stakeholders among them Spar, CBZ and Barbours, has been on a drive to empower schools especially from the high-density areas and the move has seen several schools and pupils benefiting from this programme.

Speaking at the function, Kwayedza newspaper editor Patrick Shamba praised the winners and commended their hard work which he said was of the highest order and had to be maintained.

He said winning an award of excellence is not an event but rather a process which calls for discipline commitment and focus.
He also encouraged great interaction among communities, saying this increases social cohesion which was beneficial to the development.

“We all live and interact in a community. Research has shown that in our endeavour to work as a community, team work is the best ingredient for quality delivery.
“I call upon you all to take up team approach to your work.

“It is in numbers that we pool together ideas, resources, strategies, synergies and a common vision,” said Shamba.
It was of paramount importance, Shamba said, that more resources be availed to the development of children as witnessed by the thrust taken by Government after independence when it committed itself to building more schools.

“At independence the thrust in the education system hinged on access to education.
“As a result, Government made a commitment to build a lot of schools.

“My challenge to you all today is that we now need to undertake a paradigm shift and focus on quality delivery,” Shamba said.
A total of 29 primary schools and 12 secondary schools benefited from the Zimpapers programme.

Shamba said the company would keep on supporting education in the country as it is the backbone of development.
