The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authority (Zimparks) has dispatched a reaction team to track down a lion that reportedly escaped from Nyanga, Manicaland Province, a few days ago.
Reports suggest that the lion has already entered Mashonaland East Province after its spoor was seen in Macheke this week.
Head of corporate communications for Zimparks, Mr Tinashe Farawo said a reaction team is already on the ground tracking the cat.
He appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid movements during the night.
“We are encouraging communities around Nyanga in Manicaland and those in Mashonaland East to remain calm and try to minimise movements at night. These big cats normally move at night
“Our reaction team is on the ground.”
