United Methodist Church Zimre Park Vabvuwi will tomorrow launch their debut album entitled “A Call to Worship” at their circuit centre. The 35-member group’s album has 10 tracks such as “Kurunzirwa”, “Apo neApa”, “Mwari Muri Zuva Rangu”, “Tenzi Taungana”, “Baba Wedu Makazvita” and “Ndanzwa Izwi Renyu” among others. Most of the songs were drawn from the church’s hymn book. The album was mastered and produced at Shed Studios by Peter Mparutsa.

In an interview, group chairman Edson Maboreke said he was excited with the developments. He said music is integral in worshipping God hence they chose to name the album “A Call to Worship”.

“We chose music as universal language to unite and entertain Christians, at the same time reminding them that God is coming and He is there. On the album there are mainly songs that call upon people to worship God and this is in line with The United Methodist Church mission of making disciples for Jesus Christ,” he said.

He said the album consists of nine hymns with one chorus.

“The main objective of this album is a call to worship. We are inviting church delegates, pastors and choirs among others to attend this unique event in our church. The launch will also coincide with a programme to raise funds to build our church. The church has been growing in numbers and, sadly, some members are sitting outside during our service,” he said.

Maboreke said there will also be other groups to perform on the night.

“There will be lots of entertainment and delegates will be treated to some performances. The choir will also sample some of the songs from the album. We are working on releasing a DVD album,” he said.

The choir is following in the footsteps of Harare West MUMC choir who have continued to scale greater heights with their music.
