ZimRights blasts MDC-T

Chinhoyi Bureau
THE MDC-T is being insincere in boycotting elections and demanding so-called electoral reforms when it co-authored the new Constitution, ZimRights Mashonaland West provincial chairman Mr Takesure Musiiwa has said.

Speaking at belated World Press Freedom Day commemorations in Chinhoyi, Mr Musiiwa said it was ironic that MDC-T was now calling for electoral reforms when they fully participated in the constitution-making process. “It is strange that MDC-T says they will not participate in elections until there are reforms when they participated in the process that brought about the Constitution,” he said.

“The same people convinced Zimbabweans to vote “Yes” and now they say they cannot participate in elections until there are reforms.”

Mr Musiiwa said MDC-T got into a “comfort zone” when they entered into the inclusive Government.

Speaking at the same event, Makonde Constituency MP Cde Kindness Paradza said journalists should not be used in political fights.

He said mainstream media was at risk from social media and online media platforms.

“Media houses should be wary of the threat of online and social media platforms. Traditional media like our newspapers face a high risk that requires thinking outside the box,” he said.
