Zinwa donates computers to Harare Central Police Traffic section

The computers were handed over to officers from the section by the authority’s chief executive officer Engineer Albert Muyambo.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Eng Muyambo said the donation was part of their corporate social responsibility.
He said Zinwa strived to give back to the communities that it always worked with in the fulfillment of its mandate.
Eng Muyambo said Zinwa always had a good working relationship with the police.
“During the days when we ran Harare Water, we partnered with the police in a campaign against vandalism of water infrastructure,” he said.
“We did this campaign with other utilities such as Zesa and TelOne which were also losing millions of dollars in repair works due to vandalism and this managed to bear fruits for us as now we have an Act of Parliament that provides for stiffer penalties on those convicted to vandalising water, telecommunications and electricity infrastructure.”
Eng Muyambo said they would ensure that the police traffic section was technologically empowered.
“While we are mindful that the three computers will not fully meet the needs of the traffic section, we take pride in knowing that we have taken a step that we hope will culminate into a full journey,” he said.
“We shall always ensure that we play our part. We shall always use social corporate responsibility to show how we value the communities that we always work with.”
The officer-in-charge of Harare Traffic (Central Business District) Chief Inspector Joseph Chihure applauded Zinwa for the donation.
He said it would go a long way in enhancing their operations.
“As ZRP traffic we are mandated with enforcing the laws. We will do our best to put these gadgets to good use,” he said. Chief Insp Chihure said they had difficulties in gathering traffic statistics because of lack of computers.
