BUSINESS executive Mr Willard Zireva has returned as the chief executive officer of OK Zimbabwe, one of the country’s largest retail chains.
Mr Zireva previously led the company as CEO from 2001 until his departure in 2017. His return comes amid a major leadership overhaul as the company embarks on a restructuring exercise to address operational challenges and drive sustainable growth.
In a statement released on Tuesday, OK Zimbabwe announced the conclusion of voluntary separation agreements with three top executives: CEO Mr Maxen Phillip Karombo, Chief Financial Officer Mr Phillimon Mushosho, and Supply Chain Director Mr Knox Mupaya.
To steer the company’s turnaround efforts, the board has appointed a new executive team, with Zireva re-assuming the CEO role. He will be joined by Mr Alex Edgar Siyavora as Chief Financial Officer and Mr Muzvidzwa Richard Chingaira as Supply Chain Director.
The appointments take effect immediately, with the new leadership expected to stabilise operations and implement a strategic recovery plan over the next six months while the company searches for permanent executive replacements.
“The Board would like to acknowledge the outgoing executive team for their service through this challenging period and to welcome back the team entrusted with stabilising and turning the business around,” OK Zimbabwe said in the statement.
The restructuring comes as OK Zimbabwe grapples with economic pressures and shifting consumer trends in an increasingly competitive retail landscape. Zireva’s return signals a bid to leverage his experience in navigating the company through past challenges and positioning it for long-term growth.
