THE Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation (ZMDC) has dismissed reports that it had appointed a general manager. In a story published in the Herald Business yesterday, it was reported that ZMDC had appointed Mr Demand Gwatinetsa as the general manager who is expected to spearhead the turnaround of the group.

In a statement, ZMDC company secretary and legal advisor Mr Tinashe Collins Chiparo said the appointment process of a general manager was not yet complete.

“Reference is made to the article published in The Herald of 27 July 2017 entitled ‘ZMDC appoints new general manager’. We wish to put the record straight that the process of appointing the general manager is still in progress and not yet complete,” he said.

ZMDC is a mining entity with a statutory mandate to invest in Zimbabwe’s mining sector. It is also charged with co-ordinating and implementing mining development projects on behalf of the Government
