ZNBWCB, ZOC sign MOU

THE Zimbabwe National Boxing and Wrestling Control Board (ZNBWCB) and the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (ZOC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The two signed a five-year Doping Control and Anti-Doping Education and Awareness Partnership.

“The partnership seeks to preserve the spirit of sport, as described in the WADA’s World Anti-Doping Code and UNESCO International Convention against Doping.

“The partnership is a development initiative meant to expose, educate, equip and empower combat sport stakeholders in Zimbabwe with knowledge on clean sport and doping-free sport from grassroots to professional level.

“The partnership will cover the following areas of co-operation:

– ANTI-DOPING EDUCATION

“This will involve organising educational seminars, workshops and conferences targeting registered boxers, fighters, wrestlers, coaches, promoters, managers, technical officials, clubs and academies from grassroots to professional level in Zimbabwe.

– 4.2 DOPING CONTROL

“This will focus on in-competition and out-of-competition testing of registered boxers, fighters and wrestlers in line with the WADA requirements.

-4.3 ANTIDOPING AWARENESS

“This will focus on conducting anti-doping campaigns targeted at information sharing and provision of educational material to enable growth and transfer of skills and knowledge.

– 4.4 SPORT ADMINISTRATION AND SPORT SCIENCE COACHING CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT

“This will focus on providing sport administration and sport science coaching education to combat sport coaches and administrators from grassroots to elite level.”
