THE Zimbabwe Volleyball Association (ZVA) will tomorrow hold its annual general meeting where a road map for the association’s participation in three major sporting events is expected to be drawn up. ZVA has an arduous international sporting calendar. They are pencilled to take part in the All-Africa Games qualifiers for the competition set for Congo in September before taking part in the World Beach Volleyball Championships to be hosted by Netherlands in Amsterdam from June 26 to July 5.
The country will also be involved in the Olympic Games qualifiers for the 2016 Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
ZVA president Frederick Ndlovu said the association will be coming up with a work plan for the entire year.
“The annual general meeting will be held in Harare this coming Saturday and top of the agenda is the plan of action for 2015 which should culminate in the endorsement of activities. We already have our calendar in place and all the programmes that we want to implement this year.
“Our major challenge over the years has been funding. We’re talking to a number of prospective sponsors and we hope to secure adequate funding. The sport has a lot of potential and all that’s required is funding,” he said.
Ndlovu said preparations started last year when the country’s national volleyball teams travelled to Namibia for the first pool stages of the sub zonal phase.
