HIGHLANDERS’ lack of its yesteryear sparkle deeply worried President Mugabe to the extent that he inquired about the issue from the club’s president, Jonathan Mhlanga.
The President’s concern about Highlanders’ slumber was revealed by Mhlanga when he was giving his vote of thanks after a donation of 25 sets of uniforms and tracksuits by Mines  and Mining Development Minister Obert Mpofu at the Highlanders clubhouse on Friday last week.

Minister Mzila challenges Zifa

NATIONAL Healing, Reconciliation and Integration co-Minister Moses Mzila-Ndlovu has called upon Zifa to create another league that will cater for teams in Matabeleland South.
He said the league should cover especially Plumtree and its surrounding areas as teams from there were heavily disadvantaged because of the present football boundaries.

War veteran, family evicted from farm

A WAR veteran and his family were allegedly driven out of their farm in Springs, Kensington, on the outskirts of Bulawayo by six men who claimed to be war veterans and dumped in Figtree.
Relating his nightmare, Cde Jethro Sibanda said on 3 December, six men entered his compound and ordered him to leave.

Boat capsizes on Lake Chivero, eleven die

ELEVEN children drowned when an overloaded boat capsized during a cruise on Lake Chivero at around 6:30pm on Christmas Day.
The boat, which carries five people, had 16 children and three adults on board.

Holiday death toll rises to 72

TWENTY-FOUR people were killed in road traffic accidents on Christmas and Boxing days, bringing the holiday death toll to 72 as of yesterday afternoon.
Five hundred and five people were injured in 799 accidents recorded countrywide.
