ZIMBABWEAN golfers can still be counted among the best in the world if the performance by the duo of Brendon de Jonge and Bruce McDonald at the recent Golf World Cup is anything to go by.
Zimbabwe finished 11th and in so doing became the highest ranked African country at the event in Hainan, China.
Bulawayo player makes it into national tennis team

MASIYEPHAMBILI Junior student Tanaka Chabata is the only Bulawayo tennis player in the national team that will compete in the Africa Junior Championships Southern Zone in Namibia next month.
The competition, which is for Under-12, 14 and 16s, will run from 8-14 January in Windhoek.
Chabata is the only Under-12 boys category player in the 11-member team.
Raylton to host sports festival

BULAWAYO Raylton Recreation Club will play host to a sports festival that will see different organisations competing in different sporting disciplines on the weekend of 17-18 December.
The idea behind the festival is to bring various corporates and their employees to socialise ahead of the festive season.

Chisora fails to land European boxing title
ZIMBABWEAN born Dereck Chisora fell agonisingly short in his attempt to win the vacant European heavyweight title, losing by a split decision to Robert Helenius in Finland.
Chisora, who entered the contest at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki having won 15 of his 16 professional fights, was the busier of the two fighters but Helenius was rewarded for his more eye-catching shots, prevailing 115-113 113-115 115-113 on the judges’ scorecards.
