Young Sables trickle in for camp

THE foreign-based Young Sables contingent has stared trickling into the country for the Zimbabwe Under-20 rugby camp as they prepare for a series of friendly games against South African sides next week.
Full camp is expected to start at the weekend and this is also when most of the players who ply their trade abroad are expected to be in the country to prepare for a week-long tour Down South.

Winky D to tour Australia

Dimaf not yet legally operational

Harare — The Distressed Industries and Marginalised Areas Fund (Dimaf) is not yet legally operational as the Government has not yet put in its $20 million contribution.
The $40 million fund, which was launched last year in partnership with Old Mutual with CABS being the administrator, was intended to revive ailing industries.
CABS managing director Kevin Terry told the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Industry and Commerce on Tuesday that without Government’s contribution there was effectively no fund to talk about.

RioZim approves capital raising initiative

RIOZIM shareholders have approved the company’s capital raising initiative to secure more than $56 million capital in order to retire debt and recapitalise operations.
The agreement was reached during the firm’s Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on Friday last week.

Chisora appeals against boxing licence withdrawal

LONDON — Heavyweight boxer Dereck Chisora has appealed against the withdrawal of his British boxing licence, promoter Frank Warren said yesterday.
“The appeal has gone in already,” Warren told the BBC. “The grounds for the appeal are that we are not satisfied with the way the hearing went.”
The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC) withdrew Chisora’s licence this month after he was involved in a post-fight brawl with retired former world champion David Haye in Munich in February.
