FORMER Highfield legislator and University of Zimbabwe law lecturer Munyaradzi Gwisai and five accomplices convicted of conspiring to commit public violence will be sentenced today.
The prosecution urged the court to slap the six with the maximum sentence of 10 years in jail.

In aggravation, law officer Mr Edmore Nyazamba of the Attorney General’s Office, said the option of fine should not be considered because it would trivialise the offence.
Gwisai was jointly charged with Antoneta Choto (36), Tatenda Mombeyarara (29), Edson Chakuma (38), Hopewell Gumbo (32) and Welcome Zimuto (25).
According to Section 188 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act, as read with Section 36, the offence attracts a fine not exceeding level 12 which is US$2 000 or imprisonment not exceeding 10 years or both.
