Zanu-PF working onelections guidelines

Zanu-PF is working on guidelines that will regulate the conduct of primary elections ahead of harmonised elections set for early next year.
The guidelines, which are being worked on by the party’s department for legal affairs, are expected to address issues to do with the imposition of candidates and factionalism.
Zanu-PF spokesperson Cde Rugare Gumbo confirmed the development in an interview yesterday.
“We are working on guidelines on how to conduct primary elections. The guidelines will provide mechanisms dealing with such issues as the imposition of candidates, which was being caused by factionalism. We have not yet finished drafting the guidelines but they will be completed before we go for national elections,” he said.

Tsvangirai wields axe

Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai yesterday reportedly fired his senior secretary Mr Ian Makone and three other high-ranking officials for allegedly meddling in his marital affairs.
The other officials reportedly thrown out of the PM’s Office are protocol officer Mr James Maridadi and policy implementation principal director Pastor Lazarus Muriritirwa.
Mr Gandhi Mudzingwa was redeployed from the PM’s office to the MDC-T’s Harvest House headquarters.
It is understood that the PM made the drastic changes at the instigation of his wife Ms Elizabeth Macheka.
Headmaster loses exam papers

THE acting headmaster of Sijahugwe Secondary School in the Siganda area of Bubi District, Matabeleland North, allegedly lost O-level examination question papers while travelling from Bulawayo to the school on Sunday.
Sources close to the matter said the examination papers included those of English Language, Mathematics, Geography, Ndebele, Integrated Science and Commerce for the November examinations.
The acting head, Mr Panganai Zimhuno, reportedly lost the examination papers which he had collected on Friday last week in Bulawayo.
By end of day yesterday, he was reportedly still trying to locate the question papers with assistance from the police in Bulawayo and education officials.
