MDC-T councillors defect to Mawere’s newly formed party

SEVERAL MDC-T councillors, among them mayors of various cities, have allegedly dumped their party and joined a newly formed political party, United Movement for Democracy (UMD), which is reportedly led by self-exiled South African businessman, Mr Mutumwa Mawere.

Impeccable sources said Mr Mawere is expected to fly into the country soon to drum up support for his new party in which Gweru mayor, Clr Tedious Chimombe, is said to be the interim national chairman.

Clr Chimombe confirmed the development yesterday.
