Play-offs to determine Mat North Division Two winners

PLAY-OFFS will determine which club from Matabeleland North will join Hwange’s Technosphere in the Southern Region Division One League.

Zifa Matabeleland North Division Two Soccer League Pool B winners Mbembesi’s Stars United will battle it out with Pool A runners-up Mkhosana of Victoria Falls in the play-offs set for 1 and 5 December.

Gumede happy with 2012 soccer season

Zimbabwean referees that did duty during the 2012 soccer season have been commended for doing their job   professionally thereby contributing to the smooth running of the season’s soccer programme.

In an interview, Zifa vice president and also chairman of the referees committee, Ndumiso Gumede said referees had put up a splendid show.

10 Binga teams in One love-One enemy tourney

TEN teams from the Binga District Zifa Division Three League will take part in the “One love-One enemy” tournament that will be held at Musanampongo, Binga on Saturday.

Ntengwe Community for Development will sponsor the event which is aimed at using football to mobilise  communities to attend HIV/Aids awareness campaign meetings.

Diocese to report Kunonga to police over missing properties

THE Anglican Church’s Harare Diocese has said it will file a police report against Dr Nolbert Kunonga’s Province of Zimbabwe after an inventory indicated a number of properties could have gone missing.

Mberengwa teacher in court for ‘fondling’ pupil

A 34 year-old teacher from Masase Primary School in Mberengwa has been arrested after he allegedly fondled a Grade Seven pupil at the school and threatened her that he would influence Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) to fail her Grade Seven examinations if she reported the matter to her guardians.

One of the guardians, however, later investigated and found  that the girl had been abused allegedly by the accused teacher after she learnt of the girl’s sudden change in behaviour.

Over 400 families get Presidential inputs

A least 400 families from Insiza in Matabeleland South yesterday received seed maize under the Presidential Well-Wishers Special Agricultural Inputs Support Scheme.

Among the beneficiaries were the elderly, child headed families and people living with disabilities.

Govt mulls funding Ngos with interest in diamond mining

Mines and Mining Development Minister Obert Mpofu yesterday said Government was seriously considering funding non- governmental organisations with interest in diamond mining at Chiadzwa.

Speaking during a review meeting of the Zimbabwe Diamonds Conference that was held in Victoria Falls early this month, Minister Mpofu extended an olive branch to hostile NGOs that have been peddling falsehoods about the Chiadzwa diamonds.

Parly to intervene in MDC feud only when invited

PARLIAMENT will only intervene in the feud between Professors Arthur Mutambara and Welshman Ncube over the status of MDC Parliamentarians if the factions officially communicate their positions to the legislature.

Speaker of the House of Assembly Mr Lovemore Moyo yesterday said Parliament would not rush to take a position before the interested parties make the request. He said he was yet to receive communication from the two factions.

MSU forced to set exam for one student

Midlands State University could be forced to set examinations for one student after the student successfully challenged the university’s decision to bar him from writing examinations in court.

The student, Believe Tevera, a member of the Student Representative Committee (SRC) was suspended for publishing an article in a daily paper condemning what he called harassment and subsequent arrest of some students by the MSU security personnel and the police during an SRC posts’ campaign at the university.

 

Chasi arrested for murder

RENOWNED black empowerment activist Sonny Chasi (72) has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife.

Chasi reportedly found his wife, Dorcas Chasi (41) six months pregnant when he was released from prison about three weeks ago.
