Minister grilled over Bulawayo water crisis

Chronicle Reporter

STAKEHOLDERS yesterday grilled the Deputy Minister of Local Government, Rural and Urban Development, Sesel Zvidzai about Government’s reluctance to declare Bulawayo a critical water shortage area, despite the mounting water crisis in the city.

The development comes following  revelations on Wednesday that residents might be accessing water from taps once every week by Christmas if water from Mtshabezi Dam does not reach the city by then.

Already, the council in a bid to conserve the fast dwindling water supplies, has introduced a weekly four-day water shedding schedule.
