4 arrested over Zesa copper wires

Detectives in Chipinge have arrested four suspects for vandalizing the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission Distribution Corporation 100 kilovolts transformer at Tingamira Tea Estate from which they wanted to extract copper coils for resale.

Chipinge CID spokesperson Detective Assistant Inspector Vincent Chikuvadze confirmed the arrests.

He said  Tinashe Chiseno (28), Chisomo Eseni (39), Steyn Tagwireyi and Charales Mashava (41) were nabbed following a tipoff by residents.

Ass Insp Chikuvadze said the vandalized transformer, copper cables and 6 copper coils, weighing 20kgs each, valued at US$2000 were recovered at the scene.
