A TALE OF TWO NGWENYAS

YOU can call it a tale of two Ngwenyas.

One is flying high again and is about to sign for a South African Premiership club after he impressed at the COSAFA Cup and has been scoring for fun in the Castle Lager Premiership.

The other is starting to make an impression at Dynamos.

Leading agent Gibson Mahachi confirmed yesterday that striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya was on the verge of joining a South African club.

“I can confirm negotiations at an advanced stage with one of the PSL Clubs. An agreement likely to be reached any day from now,” said Mahachi.

H-Metro understands that Ngwenya is on the verge of joining Amazulu.

Reports had indicated that Scottland were considering signing him from FC Platinum for a record transfer fee in the domestic Premiership.

However, the Scotts have turned their focus to players from West Africa.

Dynamos midfielder Vhusa Ngwenya has revealed how his heartbreaking last-minute exclusion from the Emerging Warriors squad for the COSAFA Cup became the motivation behind his recent fine performances.

He scored his first senior goal for Dynamos in their abandoned match against FC Platinum at Mandava.

Ngwenya, who joined Dynamos at the age of 12 in 2016, has risen through the club’s ranks.

“I was waiting for that moment in my life and for the goal to come against a team of FC Platinum’s quality, I am happy.

“Considering my background, people never thought I would get to this stage and play in the club’s senior team. But I am grateful it’s happening.

“Receiving a call for the national team is a dream come true for every player, the sudden drop, it’s painful but as a footballer it happens.

“For me, it becomes a motivational factor, it becomes a fuel that I have to put more hard work and, maybe, I can get another call next time.”

He added:

“The club is in an unfamiliar position that we are not comfortable with and we need to change the situation by fighting on the pitch to reach our targets as players and the technical team.

“I am grateful to those who rally behind me and the team, it is my hope to get everything back on track.”
