THEY may not be flamboyant in the way they have been going about their business this year, but Castle Lager Premiership Soccer League (PSL) giants Dynamos are gradually turning the corner in their quest to reclaim their glamour.
Their early results in which they have gone on a four-match unbeaten start have been both a statement of intent and a testament to what investment can do to any football club.
Dynamos have won twice and drawn as many in their games against TelOne, Highlanders, Bulawayo Chiefs and Agama.
And yesterday, the Dynamos management were celebrating the sealing of yet another massive corporate deal that will guarantee sustainability and also ensure coach Genesis “Kaka’’ Mangombe and his men will be a competitive outfit.
Dynamos revealed that they had secured major sponsorship from AfricaBet and ContiPay for the next four seasons in which the Harare giants are looking to restore some lost greatness.
The development left Dynamos chief executive officer Desmond Bvute and his management purring.
Bvute, while revealing that a deal had been struck, was not at liberty to go into the finer details of the package, which Zimpapers Sports Hub understands is a massive game-changer for Dynamos.
“Dynamos Football Club is proud to announce the successful conclusion of a significant landmark sponsorship deal with AfricaBet and ContiPay over a four-year period,’’ Bvute said.
“This partnership marks a major milestone in the club’s journey, reflecting growing confidence in our vision, brand and long-term strategy.
“The investment will play a pivotal role in strengthening key areas of the club, including player development, infrastructure, community engagement and overall competitiveness on and off the field.
“We extend our sincere gratitude to our new partners for their trust and commitment.’’
The youthful Dynamos chief executive indicated that the coming in of AfricaBet underscores the ambition and determination which chairman Vincent Chawonza’s leadership have in ensuring that DeMbare will not endure the frustration of fighting against PSL relegation again.
“This collaboration is built on shared values of excellence, ambition and a deep passion for the beautiful game,” he said.
“Together, we aim to elevate the Dynamos brand to greater heights and deliver sustained success for our supporters.
“To our loyal fans, stakeholders and the broader football community, this development is a testament to the progress being made behind the scenes.
“We remain committed to transparency, professionalism and building a club that consistently competes at the highest level.
“Further details regarding the partnership and its rollout will be shared in due course. Together, we move forward stronger, united and driven.’’
AfricaBet is one of the country’s leading betting entities while ContiPay is a Zimbabwe-based fintech company and online payment gateway designed to facilitate secure transactions for businesses, ranging from startups to large corporations.
It is a product of ContiTouch, an information and communication technology (ICT) company with operations in Zimbabwe and Zambia, and is a subsidiary of the diversified group Hammer and Tongues, which also has AfricaBet on its books.
Although Bvute was coy on the finer details, which he indicated would soon be rolled out, it has emerged that as part of the package, the sponsors will acquire a new and luxury team bus for the Harare giants, while it is understood that a package in excess of US$600 000 will be provided annually for operations and player acquisitions.
And in a year in which they are set to bounce back to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) inter-club competitions, Dynamos will need all the corporate partners they can get to compete on two fronts.
By virtue of winning the 2025 Chibuku Super Cup, for a record third successive time, Dynamos will represent Zimbabwe in the CAF Confederation Cup.
DeMbare, earlier this month also secured an agreement with Harare pharmaceutical company Crown Pharmacies, which will guarantee that the players’ wellness is catered for.
Crown Pharmacies, previously known as Diamond Pharmacies, revealed that they had agreed on a partnership that will ensure that they will provide Dynamos team doctor Robert Musara and his crew with medical supplies for training and match days throughout the season.
Having used the FIFA international break to seal yet another vital sponsorship deal, DeMbare will now be hoping that Mangombe’s men will be in buoyant mood when they resume their championship campaign with a home assignment against last year’s runners-up MWOS at Rufaro on Thursday.
That is before their pedigree is put on further test with an Easter Sunday trip to Wadzanayi in Shamva for a match against 2024 champions Simba Bhora.
