Organisers of the inaugural edition of the Zimbabwe Gospel Music Awards say they are fully committed to deliver a prestigious event on April 11.
Slated for Casino Marina at Longchen Plaza, the awards seek to celebrate local talent, promote industry growth and fostering creativity.
A brainchild of Lee Chitsungo, the awards feature more than 20 categories and over 100 nominees.
“We are fully committed to delivering a prestigious and well-organised inaugural edition of the Zimbabwe Gospel Music Awards.
“Our preparations are in their final stages, with key aspects such as venue logistics, stage design, and technical production well underway.
Every detail has been carefully planned to ensure a seamless and memorable experience for attendees, nominees, and stakeholders,” said ZIGMA director Lee Chitsungo.
Chitsungo has assured fans that the awards will now take off after an earlier postponement.
“Despite facing earlier challenges such as time, financial constraints, industry awareness and engagement, our dedicated team remains committed to delivering a successful and impactful event.
“The inaugural Zimbabwe Gospel Music Awards will not only celebrate talent but also set a solid foundation for future editions, ensuring the continued growth of gospel music in Zimbabwe,” he said.
He said they have partnered with a number of industry professionals who will enhance the event’s audiovisual experience, ensuring a world-class presentation.
“Although we have secured sponsorship, we still need more well-wishers to assist in ensuring that all aspects of the event are fully funded.
“There has been a greater response and commitment from artists, industry players, and media partners, demonstrating strong support for the event. Our organising team is more focused than ever, and we are determined to deliver an event that will set a solid foundation for future editions,” he said.
Obert Chari, Pastor G, Vabati VaJehovah and Spirit Praise have been roped in to perform at the event to honour the talent and dedication of Zimbabwean gospel artists.
17 artists including Michael Mahendere, Dorcas Moyo, Mambo Dhutere, Rumbi Zvirikuzhe and Nyasha Mutonhori among others are up for the Song of the Year.
Nicholas Chirunga and Rhoda January face stiff competition from 10 other nominees for the Best Newcomer gong.
