MUTARE-based gospel musician, Rogers Bepete, is back on the musical radar after a year-long sabbatical by releasing a nine-track album, “Tinorwirwa na Mwari”. Bepete’s debut album “Sarudzo”, which was released last year in January, received rave views from listeners and considerable airplay on radio stations, particularly the song “Mukadzi akanaka”.
It seems the talented composer, who has a great future ahead of him, continued from where he left by releasing a project that is laden with uplifting and soothing tracks.
Songs on the album include “Hakuna akarurama”, “Tsvagai Humambo”, “Tinorwirwa naMwari”, “Gwatakwata”, “Anondichengeta”, “Shuramatongo” and “Tendeuka”. It was recorded at Divine Records by Charles Ayibeki.
Bepete warns people to be faithful and be content with one partner on the song “Shuramatongo”, while on the track “Tendeuka” he urges people to repent and seek Jesus Christ before it’s too late.
On the title track, “Tinorwirwa na Mwari”, the musician is inspired by bible verse 2 Kings Chapter six verse 15 to 18 where Elisha pinned his trust in God and his capabilities when he was under attack.
“We often face difficulties in life but we usually don’t know where to turn to. In the face of challenges we should be able to proclaim what prophet Elisha said, ‘Don’t be afraid, those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’
“We should always seek the cushion of God in times of trouble. The whole album inspires people to keep their faith and hope in God,” said Bepete.
He believes his new album, which hit the streets a fortnight ago, will scale him to dizzy heights.
“It’s my breakthrough album. I believe it is a better project that the first one and I am looking forward to fans’ response,” he added.
Bepete was born 33 years ago in Mutare and did his primary and secondary education at Rowa.
He is inspired by Fishers of Men frontman Charles Charamba and Blessing Shumba.
