Billiat credits Downs hard work

MAMELODI Sundowns’ star player, Khama Billiat admitted Mamelodi Sundowns are working hard to be more clinical after a 2-0 win over Free State Stars on Sunday.

Cuthbert Malajila and Billiat were on target as Sundowns remained 13 points behind Absa Premiership leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

“I want to give credit to the team, we worked hard from the first minute. We just need to keep going each and every game and try by all means to get the results,” said Billiat.

“I think we deserved to win this game and I just want to give credit to the team who worked hard until the last minute.”

Billiat admitted the more regular conversion of chances is something the Brazilians still need to work on going forward.

“It’s one of those things we always need to keep working on in training. When it comes to training we need to rectify out mistakes, it’s not easy,” he added.

“I need to give credit to everyone, the suppliers and the guys always in the box at the right time when we need to score. It will come slowly and we keep on going.”

Meanwhile, Malajila who suffered a knock during the match is reported not to be seriously injured.

The Zimbabwe international limped off with a hamstring injury and was replaced by Anthony Laffor midway through the first half.

Sundowns, however, say the marksman should be available for the upcoming trip to Orlando Stadium. The two teams played on Wednesday.

“The doctors are saying it’s a minor injury and it’s not serious at all,” Downs media officer Thulani Thuswa tells KickOff.com.

“He should be ready to take the field against Pirates but a thorough assessment will be made later this afternoon. But by the look of it, it shouldn’t be a problem.” – Weekender Reporter/Kickoff.
