Buhera police ban dangerous weapons for 3 months

POLICE in Buhera have issued a three-month prohibition order banning the possession and carrying of weapons such as catapults, knobkerries, machetes, spears, axes, swords, and knives.

The order, effective from March 27 to June 27, 2025, is aimed at preventing public disorder and breach of peace.

Anyone found in violation of the prohibition order will be arrested and prosecuted.

The prohibition order was issued under Section 4(1) of the Maintenance of Peace and Order Act (Chapter 11:23), by the Officer Commanding Buhera District, Chief Superintendent Godfrey Tinofirei Muzvondiwa Muzvondiwa.

It spells out that the carrying of such weapons will likely to cause public disorder and breach of peace.

“The police, on reasonable grounds, believe that carrying such weapons, whether openly or concealed in public, is likely to cause disorder or a breach of peace. Therefore, I hereby prohibit the carrying of these weapons in Buhera District for a period not exceeding three months,” reads the notice the notice.
