IN a ground-breaking move that reaches far beyond the football pitch, Southern Region Division One side, Bulawayo Chiefs FC has unveiled a new venture that could transform the club’s financial future.
The club has completed construction of its own water purification plant, the heartbeat of a fresh business project set to generate revenue and strengthen its sustainability drive.
At the centre of this initiative is Amanz’e Chiefs, the club’s own brand of purified water, aimed at making a lasting impact on both the team and the City of Bulawayo.
For Chiefs, the launch represents more than just selling bottled water. It’s a bold step towards building steady income streams that can fund the club’s operations, development programmes and future ambitions.
“In football today, survival depends on creativity,” said club CEO Thulani Javas Sibanda.
“By introducing Amanz’e Chiefs and Ama-ICE-eChiefs, we’re not only opening new revenue channels but ensuring we have the means to keep competing at the highest level. This allows us to reinvest in our team and community for long term stability.”
Alongside the bottled water, the club has rolled out Ama-ICE-eChiefs, a line of ice cubes made from the same purified water, expanding its commercial footprint into a market that touches everyday life.
The initiative highlights Bulawayo Chiefs’ growing reputation as one of the country’s most innovative football clubs, one determined to blend sport, business and community impact.
“We believe in the power of football to unite people,” Sibanda said.
“This project is our way of giving back while building something lasting for our fans and our city. Together, we can achieve great things, both on and off the field.”
As the team continues its push for success on the pitch, Bulawayo Chiefs are proving that the future of the modern football club lies not just in goals scored but in ideas that sustain them.
