BULAWAYO will next week host the inaugural Bulawayo Capital Markets Masterclass; an initiative aimed at improving financial literacy and encouraging responsible investing as Zimbabwe seeks to deepen participation in its capital markets.

The masterclass is being organised by the Zimbabwe Capital Markets Academy in association with Berith Gopher Consultancy and Investi Oak Wealth and will run under the theme, “Bulawayo on the Rise: Smart Investing in Today’s Capital Markets.

Capital markets are financial platforms where long-term funds are raised and invested through instruments such as shares, bonds, exchange-traded funds and other securities.

They connect companies and governments seeking capital for expansion and development with investors looking for opportunities to grow their wealth over time.

Well-functioning capital markets play a critical role in economic development by mobilising savings into productive investments, supporting business growth, creating jobs and improving corporate governance through enhanced transparency and accountability.

Added to that they also provide individuals and institutional investors with opportunities to build wealth, diversify investments and preserve value over the long term.

The organisers said the masterclass seeks to spread the message of responsible investing by equipping members of the public with practical knowledge of Zimbabwe’s capital markets and investment opportunities.

“This seminar will seek to demystify some of the myths pertaining to stock markets in our country,” the organisers said.

The programme comes at a time when authorities and market players are intensifying efforts to broaden investor participation in Zimbabwe’s capital markets through financial education and increased awareness of available investment products.

Participants are expected to gain insights into how capital markets operate, the fundamentals of investing, risk management and strategies for building and preserving wealth in changing economic conditions.

The masterclass is expected to attract entrepreneurs, professionals, students, business executives, existing investors and members of the public interested in enhancing their understanding of investment and wealth management.
