PARENTS are the best teachers of their children.
This was said by one of the directors of a major passenger transport firm, CAG Tours, Dr Afra Nhanhanga-Chinhamu, in her speech, celebrating her 47th birthday on Saturday.
She is also the 2020 Businesswoman of the year, Dr Nhanhanga showered praises on her parents for shaping her to become who she is today.
“We have teachers, pastors and workmates but the best teacher of a child is the parent,” said Dr Nhanhanga.
“My parents never allowed laziness but encouraged me and my brothers to work.
“They would warn us about associating with friends known for bad behaviour and it shaped our character.
“Today, the future of our children depends on us as women.
“Let us take time with them, encourage them to believe in God and also encourage them to use their hands.
“Mwana ngaasarerwa semazai nekuti ukamutsiura haaputsike.
“Children must know how to carry out house chores and be responsible in safeguarding family property,” said Dr Nhanhanga.
She celebrated her birthday with women and orphans.
Dr Nhanhanga was conferred with a doctorate degree by UNISA in 2020 for her philanthropic work in the country.
