FRANK SALUTES DEMBARE CHARACTER

DYNAMOS defender, Frank Makarati, has praised the fighting spirit at the club following their impressive 3-0 win against Chicken Inn in Bulawayo on Saturday.

It was a carnival atmosphere at Barbourfields as Tonderai Ndiraya’s men powered to a victory which cheered the spirits of their fans.

DeMbare failed to win, or score, in four games leading to the match against the Gamecocks.

The Glamour Boys camp was struck by a number of challenges ahead of the big match.

At least five players were unavailable for selection, due to injuries.

Their tricky winger, Bill Antonio, also left the country for a month-long trial in Belgium.

The players had also refused to sign the contract forms, which they were handed, in an attempt to lure them to agree to be paid their winning bonuses at the end of the season.

Makarati opened the scoring from the spot to take his tally to three goals.

He hailed the fans for pushing them to the limit. Junior Makunike and Emmanuel Paga were also on target.

“It is there for everyone to see that our fans gave us the extra drive, they made everything possible for us to beat our opponents,” he said.

“In all honesty, we were not really surprised with the win, we had encouraged each other to put in 100 percent effort and it paid off.

“It was just a collective effort, everyone went that extra mile and that’s why we got the win.”

The gangly defender saluted his coach, Ndiraya.

“Before the game, coach Ndiraya, emphasised the importance of unity.

“He highlighted that the race was still on and we shouldn’t be pressured to win but it’s us who can change the complexion of our poor run.

“I’m happy with the goal, it’s not only the strikers who should score but everyone in the team should score and I’m hoping to add a couple of more goals in our remaining games.”

Joey Antipas’s men are not showing the character they exhibited in the first round of the season.

They went to the off-season break enjoying the front row seat and it appears things have taken an ugly turn.

Despite the loss, they are still alive in the marathon, with just six points adrift of leaders FC Platinum, who have amassed 47 points in 22 assignments.

The Glamour Boys are eight points behind the leaders.
