Zimbabweans outside the country have begun mobilising for investment opportunities in the country through the Zimbabweans in Diaspora Organisation (ZIDO).

The mobilisation comes ahead of the Zimbabwe Business Expo set for May 24, in South Africa and the United Kingdom on October 4 this year.

Running under the theme, ‘Unlocking trade and investment opportunities in Zimbabwe’, the expo is aimed at investing back home.

ZIDO chief executive, Blessed Kapesa said that the expo will highlight the key elements of investment opportunities the country has to offer.

“Market research shows that Zimbabweans based outside the country are eager to explore investment opportunities in the country.

“The UK-based business expo will help them to ask and get answers in the country.

“This year, we have two tiers of the event where the first one is in SA in May and the other in the UK.

“We are spearheading the expo, and we are trying to create a platform that encourages Zimbabweans in the diaspora to invest back home.

“This also allow those who are running businesses in Zimbabwe to link up and collaborate with diasporans, branch out their businesses and network,” he said.

Kapesa said they will have speakers from different sectors.

“We will have a panel of speakers from sectors like construction, agriculture, IT, tourism, and mining.

“On the night of the expo, we will have a gala and awards ceremony that recognises those who are doing well in their respective sectors and industries.

“We have a total of 20 categories ,so it’s quite a wide selection of winners.”
