Call for macadamia farmers to register, renew licences

MACADAMIA famers in Manicaland Province have been called upon to renew their licences while new ones are being urged to register as a way of formalising their operations.

Agricultural Marketing Authority (AMA) provincial inspector Mrs Rose Rosario said registration and licence renewal is important for farmers as it certifies their enterprises.

This will also help in forming linkages and synergies for the farmers, she added.

Mrs Rosario said it becomes easier for registered and licensed farmers to get assistance in marketing their produce.

“We are urging macadamia farmers to get registered for those that have not already done so. Those whose licences are expired are also being called upon to renew them. Licence renewals for macadamia farmers are done annually,” she said.

Mrs Rosario revealed that only 100 farmers from Mutasa District have so far renewed their licences.

She also called on those interested in registering with them to do so through AMA’s website.
