Can CAPS keep revival alive?

CAPS United want to keep alive their mini-revival when they host Manica Diamonds at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The Green Machine host the club which hammered them 6-2 in the reverse encounter in Mutare.

“Our preparations went well, ahead of us is a difficult task but I think it’s doable,” said CAPS coach Lloyd Chitembwe.

“Being CAPS United, we should go out with this belief that we can always win matches.

“That’s what the club stands for and we can’t wait to compete on Sunday.”

The gaffer said his troops have picked themselves up from the slump that saw them lose seven matches in a row.

“In training, we are seeing a different spirit from the boys compared to what we have been experiencing in the past couple of months.

“We are fully aware of our capacity, of what we are capable of doing and achieving.

“It’s very unfortunate things didn’t go as we planned before but we have everything to play and fight for,” he said.

Chitembwe believes the absence of Rodwell Chinyengetere will be always felt but he is looking forward to his new additions to fill the void.

“We have missed Rodwell in our last games due to injury.

“He is one of our key players.

“He is injured and we would like him to get back to full fitness as quickly as possible so that he can also come back and train with the team.

“Unfortunately, football is a game of hazards and he has come back from such hazards in the past.

“(William) Manondo only missed one training session and he was back. And I am happy he recovered.” There could be more good news for Makepekepe.

“We are looking forward to having Sarupinda playing for us on Sunday on condition that his paperwork is completed.

“We can’t wait to have him. He is a good player and we have always believed in him.

“(Tafadzwa) Kutinyu agreed to come here and train with the rest of the group.

“He is a big player by Zimbabwean standards and him being here, and being assessed by the coaches, it shows his level of humility,” he added.
