CAPS Utd maintain perfect start

AT the conclusion of match day two yesterday, only CAPS United stand as the only team with a 100 percent record.

Saturday’s 1-0 win over Herentals at Rufaro ensured they go into match day three top of the Castle Lager Premiership table.

And in those two matches, three teams remain winless –Agama, Manica Diamonds and Triangle.

Agama, who suffered a 1-0 home loss to Bulawayo Chiefs at Wadzanai yesterday, will be forgiven as they are still learning the ropes in the Premiership.

But Triangle and Manica Diamonds however seem not to have learned anything from last season near-relegation experience.

Dynamos on the other hand seem to have turned the corner. From being one of the worst teams in terms of goal scoring rate in the first half of the season last year, they come out as the team to have scored more goals in the PSL so far, an average of two every game.

Chicken Inn under coach Tonderai Ndiraya have also started well and are second on the log with four points.

Champions Scottland and runners-up MWOS have started in the worst possible scenario, managing only draws in the first two games and are midtablers.

Yesterday it was newcomers Chiefs who made a statement win and they are hoping not to be relegation candidates again.

“… Persistence paid off in the 65th minute when Melikhaya Ncube found the decisive goal. A deflected delivery from open play fell kindly for the forward, who reacted quickly to slot the ball home and hand Chiefs a crucial lead,” Chiefs stated in their report.

Coach John Nyikadzino was quoted by the club saying “determination and commitment” won them the match.

“I am very happy with the boys’ performance today. They gave everything on the pitch and showed great character,” said Nyikadzino
