CHEEKY ATTACK. . . Fan says he feared Nees could have been bitten by a snake at DeMbare training ground . . . Calls the training ground a ‘forest” in a light-hearted criticism of the state of the pitch

A FAN has cheekily said he feared Michael Nees would be bitten by a snake when the Warriors coach visited the Glamour Boys training session in Harare yesterday.

He described the training ground as a “forest.”

It was a light-hearted condemnation of the poor state of the pitch at the DeMbare training ground.

“Mucharumisa coach nenyoka musango umo,” said Walter Manyara, in a response to the post which Dynamos posted on their official Facebook page, announcing that Nees had visited their training session.

Another fan added:

“Pakaenda Nees kutraining yeCAPS maplayers acho vanga vakapfeka same training kit and it looked professional manje apa umwe ane short reblue vamwe vane ewhite, kit yeblue iyo ndoo inomboshamdiswa futi during matchday haaa DeMbare yapera mhani.”

This particular feedback was subsequently removed.

Nees visited the Dynamos and CAPS United training sessions this week – something which has delighted the two giants who will be hoping for a better second half of the season than the horror first phase.

The capital’s most successful football clubs have flirted with relegation in the first half of the campaign and DeMbare find themselves in 16th spot, just two places above the bottom-placed side.

Such has been their struggle that if we combine the two giants’ points tally (33 points), they will still sit below newboys MWOS (34) and leaders Simba Bhora (35).

DeMbare, with only two wins all season, have only been better than bottom club, Kwekwe United, who have one win, on this front.

So, when Nees paid them a visit this week, it brought a wave of joy at the two giants.

At the CAPS United training session, he preached about the foolishness of walking away in protest, and forcing the abandonment of matches, which appeared to be a jab at the Glamour Boys.

It’s not clear what he preached at DeMbare because, unlike their rivals, those who handle the Dynamos social media platforms did not upload a video of his message.

But, those two visits also told another story – why there is hope at CAPS United, even after a poor first half of the season, and doom at DeMbare.

At the Green Machine Nees was welcomed by the club president, Farai Jere, who was dressed for the occasion in a cream suit.

The CAPS United players resembled a proper professional team, in their training kits, while the Dynamos players did not project the same professional outlook.

The same is also true for the way the coaches of both clubs presented themselves to the Warriors gaffer.

CAPS United assistant coach, Alex Sigion, who was in charge in the absence of his boss Ian Bakala who was atending a coaching course, was full kitted in a gold jersey and a pair of dark pants for the training session.

DeMbare coach Saul Chaminuka, wearing a white T-shirt, a pair of dark pants and a brown-and-black cap, which had no bearing whatsoever to his employer, looked like a man who had come to play Kandege at MWOS than someone who had come to lead the Glamour Boys’ training session.

At least, his assistants and fitness coach, were all in DeMbare kits.

Nees also wore a PUMA top in line with the brand which the Warriors use.

The feedback from the Dynamos and CAPS United fans on the social media platforms, where the two giants posted Nees’ visit, was also very telling.

It appears there was a lot of anger, and negativity, among the DeMbare fans while the CAPS fans appear to have embraced the national team coach’s visit.
