“Chevrons safe and well in India” – Zimbabwe Cricket reassures nation

ZIMBABWE Cricket (ZC) has assured the nation that the senior men’s national team is safe and well in India following travel disruptions that have delayed their return home after the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

The Chevrons were scheduled to travel back to Harare via Dubai after completing their tournament campaign in India. However, the evolving situation in the Middle East has disrupted key transit routes, affecting their original travel plans.

In a statement on Monday evening, ZC said the squad remains safe, with team management on the ground working closely with the International Cricket Council (ICC) to secure alternative travel arrangements.

“Zimbabwe Cricket confirms that the Zimbabwe senior men’s team remains safe and well in India following the conclusion of their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign,” reads part of the statement.

“The squad was scheduled to return home via Dubai, but travel plans have been affected by the evolving situation in the Middle East, which has disrupted key transit routes.”

ZC said the ICC has activated contingency measures and is engaging international carriers to facilitate the team’s safe return.

“ZC remains in constant communication with the ICC and team management on the ground to ensure the squad’s safe and timely return. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available,” the statement added.

The assurance comes amid concern from supporters back home who were expecting the team to arrive this week.

While their journey has been delayed, the focus remains on ensuring the safety and welfare of players and support staff as alternative routes are explored.

For now, the Chevrons remain in India awaiting confirmation of revised travel arrangements, with ZC promising to keep the nation informed.
