Chinhoyi burglars convicted

Happymore Tunhira (20) and Knowledge Mutombeni (36) of Chinhoyi were found guilty of unlawful entry when they appeared

before the Chinhoyi Magistrates Court.

The duo are expected back in court on October 21 for sentencing.

The court heard that on September 8, the accused persons broke into the complainant’s home at around 11.30pm and stole an

assortment of groceries.

One of them went inside and handed the groceries to the second accused person who was outside.

They went away unnoticed.

The accused persons hung the complainant’s house keys on a tree about 200 m from the house.

Tunhira and Mutombeni were arrested on September 9 following a tip-off.

A search was conducted in the accused person’s house, leading to the recovery of some of the groceries.

The total value of goods stolen was US$55 and only US$17 worth was recovered.
