CHIPINGE District Administrator, Mr Edgars Seenza, has hailed various stakeholders in the district for playing a social responsibility role in resuscitating major roads that links Chipinge town. Various stakeholders from the business community, farmers and the local authority have begun rehabilitating major roads in the district which include the Chipinge-Birchenough Bridge and Tanganda-Ngundu highways.
Speaking at his offices on Wednesday, Mr Seenza said Government appreciates the role played by stakeholders in rehabilitating roads currently underway in Chipinge District.
Mr Seenza also urged other stakeholders to continue pouring their resources in kind in order to beautify the district.
“I want to appreciate the great job being done by various stakeholders who are channelling their resources in the rehabilitation of roads in Chipinge.
These stakeholders include dairy farmers, Clearwater Estate, Gwenzi Hardware, Makandi Company, Dzonzai and Chipinge Rural District Council.
“They joined hands to rehabilitate our roads.
“The donations range from cash, labour, fuel, pre-mix, trucks and cement,” he said.
Mr Seenza said his office had set up a committee aimed at mobilising funds to rehabilitate other dilapidated roads in the district.
“There are other roads such as Chipinge – Jersey Road which needs urgent attention.
“We hope we will able to secure funds for their rehabilitations in the near future.” he said.
The Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs, Cde Mandi Chimene, is set to launch a clean-up and pothole filling campaign in Chipinge on a date to be set by District Administrator’s committee.
