A SAKUBVA man landed himself in trouble after he was nabbed with 55x100mls bottles of bronclear last week at Meikles Park. Luckson Tumbare (30) of House Number 53, Chineta, Sakubva, appeared before senior Mutare magistrate, Mrs Sekai Chiundura pleading guilty to the charges he was facing of breaching Section 67 of the Medicines and Allied Substance Act, Chapter 15.04.
Mr Douglas Matiure prosecuted.
He told the court that on April 16, four detectives who were on patrol were tipped that Tumbare was selling bronclear from his car at Meikles Park.
“After receiving the tip-off, they followed Tumbare to his car where they demanded to search his vehicle.
“The accused resisted and they tried to arrest him, but he took to his heels. The detectives gave chase and managed to arrest him. They searched his car and discovered 55x100mls bottles of bronclear syrup that he was illegally selling.
“The accused acted unlawfully because he is not a holder of a medical licence and he was selling the drugs which require prescriptions to people who did not have those prescriptions,” said Mr Matiure.
In his defence, Tumbare, said he wanted to sustain his family since he was not formally employed.
“I wanted to take care of my family Your Worship because I am not em0ployed. I admit that what I did is wrong and had no right to do that,” said Tumbare.
Mrs Chiundura advised Tumbare to look for legal ways of taking care of his family as he risked going to jail and leaving the same family behind.
He was sentenced to 90 days imprisonment which was wholly suspended on condition that he pays $150 fine by April 30.
