THEY didn’t lace up boots like their father. They grabbed mics instead.
Sons of legendary Zimbabwean football star Chipo “Jack Roller” Tsodzo have turned to music, dropping a tribute track that’s already making waves. Emmanuel “Young Tsodzo” and Tinashe “Timz Red X” are rewriting the family legacy one beat at a time.
Their new single Number 1 (Ezika Chipo Tsodzo) is a heartfelt nod to their father’s football heroics. Produced by rising Kenyan Amapiano hitmaker Mimmzyy, the song is gaining traction for its blend of African rhythm and personal pride.
“This track is for my dad. He’s a legend. We’re honouring him and carrying the Tsodzo name into a new arena,” said Young Tsodzo.
Fans will remember Chipo Tsodzo, a 2018 cult anthem by Mawiza, which became a Bosso terrace favourite. Now, Young Tsodzo is aiming to build on that with his own spin and some help from across the border.
“I found Mimmzyy’s beats on YouTube, hit him up, and he loved my sound. We worked remotely and made magic,” he said.
Mimmzyy, already a name in East Africa’s Amapiano scene, believes Young Tsodzo is destined for big things.
“His energy is real. He’s got vision and sound. I’m excited for what’s next,” he said.
What’s next might just be a Tsodzo-Mawiza-Timz Red X triple-threat collab. That’s the dream, and Young Tsodzo is making moves through his label Manooza Records to make it happen.
Football royalty. Music heirs. One name, two lanes. The Tsodzo legacy lives on.
