Chitembwe plays down title intentions

Caps United coach Lloyd Chitembwe says it would be disrespectful to other PSL teams to declare that his side will win this yearas league title.

United have not bagged the league crown since 2005 and have in recent years been a subject of mockery by traditional rivals Dynamos who have claimed the championship five times between 2007 and 2014.

Despite assembling a squad that has been dubbed a?Zimbabwean Galacticos,a? Chitembwe is diplomatic about Capsa title aspirations this upcoming season.

a?The season has not started as yet so it is way too early to start saying that we will win the league title. We are still building the team and see if we can come up with match-winning combinations,a? Chitembwe said.

a?We are not sure how other teams are assembling their squads so I do not know what awaits us. So to quickly declare that we will be champions would be like belittling the hard work being invested by other teams this pre-season. That would be disrespectful. What I can say for now is that Caps United would be a very competitive side that will give a good fight this season. We want to play some good football and offer stiff competition.a?

Unitedas Galacticos have come in the form of Dennis Dauda, Archford Gutu, Brian Abbas Amidu, goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda and Tafadzwa Rusike. a supersport.com
