Border Strikers coach Saul Chamunika feels his side has been a victim of circumstances in their horrible debut PSL run.
The Beitbridge outfit anchors the log standings with just three points from ten games and the chances of recovering to escape relegation and becoming complicated by each passing game.
If offsetting their poor outing according to Chaminuka, was playing their home games hundreds of kilometers away from Beitbridge.
After the PSL had condemned Dulivhadzimu as substandard for top-flight league matches, Border Strikers were forced to play their home games in Zvishavane at Maglas Stadium.
Chaminuka believes fatigue took its toll on his players as that had to travel each week.
They are however now back at Dulivhadzimu after major renovations at the stadium but lost their first match there 2-1 to Chapungu last Saturday.
On Wednesday, they travelled to Barbourfields Stadium where they were beaten 2-0 by Highlanders.
But Chaminuka feels they were victims of poor officiating after they held Highlanders to a goalless first half before a penalty awarded to the Bulawayo giants broke them.
a?The referee said there was a handball inside the box but surely everyone saw it that no one handled. That was not a penalty at all and we all know the effects of such a decision on players,a? Chaminuka said.
a?Sometimes we wonder why all this happening to us. At first we were made to play our home games away from Beitbridge. Now we have some referees making bad decisions against us. These circumstances are not doing us any good.a?
Chaminuka however feels they can recover despite it being a gigantic task for them. – supersport.com .
