This follows reports in the private media that Comm-Gen Chihuri was treating traffic officers as “golden geese” while the rest of the force was left to wallow in poverty.
It was also alleged that staff morale in the force had “hit rock-bottom” amid allegations that some officers deployed to maintain peace during the constitutional referendum had their allowances slashed.
Chief police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba yesterday said the fabrications were calculated to bring the force into disrepute.
“The so-called allegations levelled against the Commissioner-General of police are nothing but fallacy. It is obvious that these allegations are coming from certain individuals who are representing certain political parties who are anti-Zimbabwe Republic Police,” she said.
