Businesses here are mobilising towards the establishment the first ever formal business platform.
The move is inspired by President Mnangagwa’s “Zimbabwe is Open for Business” mantra.
The Kadoma Annual Agricultural Show was the only meaningful platform where businesspeople would interact.
The new dispensation has also charmed Kadoma City Council, which has also initiated plans to have a business advisory committee.
Council is also working on reviving its local economic development thrust established last year.
Addressing Kadoma residents and other stakeholders recently, a business consultant Mr Kudzanai Vere said the local leadership should seriously take heed of President Mnangagwa’s call.
“On November 21, last year, there was a paradigm shift in the way people think, he said. That was a stepping stone, we should then cascade the mantra that Zimbabwe is open for business to apply it here in Kadoma.
“Over the years there has been no tangible business platform in the city apart from the agricultural show and it is also high time Kadoma establishes an information hub and a formal business network.”
The Premium Business Network has since been tabled, while stakeholders gave a nod for the opening up of avenues to the Kadoma business community to interact and share ideas.
Addressing the same meeting, local councillor and National Business Council of Zimbabwe chairperson Mr Langton Mabhanga challenged Kadoma to walk the talk in reviving the local business sector.
“To start with, let us promote each other locally, he said. Council should set the pace and all big institutions, including RioZim and Kadoma General Hospital should buy local products.
“We need to take a more practical approach and know how to trigger it.”
