CUT student fined for possessing mbanje

A Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) student has been slapped with a US$30 fine for possessing dagga.

If Descent Mhomho (23) fails to pay the fine, he will spend 30 days in jail.

Mhomho stays at the learning institution’s campus and appeared before the Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court for unlawful possession of dagga.

On November 12, 2024, the security personnel at the university received information that Mhomho had some dagga.

The security team approached Mhomho and conducted a thorough search in his hostel room.

They recovered dagga weighing 49 grams before arresting Mhomho and handing him over to the Chinhoyi Criminal Investigations Department.
