HIGHLANDERS and head coach Pieter De Jongh are going their separate ways at the end of his contract on December 31 after what insiders describe as a complete breakdown in the working relationship that had become “impossible to fix.”

While the club’s official statement painted a calm and civil picture, sources close to the dressing room say simmering tensions and clashes behind the scenes eventually forced the leadership to cut ties with the Dutchman.

In its formal announcement, Bosso said, “After constructive discussions and by mutual agreement, the club and head coach Pieter De Jongh have decided not to extend their working relationship beyond the current contract, which runs till December 31.”
The club kept the tone diplomatic, choosing to highlight the positives rather than the storm brewing underneath.

“The club expresses its sincere appreciation to coach De Jongh for his professionalism, commitment and positive contribution during his tenure. His experience and leadership have been valuable to the team and we thank him for his hard work and dedication,” read the communiqué.

But away from the official line, insiders insist the parting of ways was long coming. They point to concerns about the coach’s conduct, personality clashes and an atmosphere that had become “increasingly unmanageable” within the technical setup.

Despite some bright patches under his guidance, the friction reportedly grew too big to ignore, leaving Bosso with little choice but to allow the clock to run out on the partnership.

As 2025 approaches, Highlanders now face the task of hunting for a new head coach who can restore calm, rebuild unity and guide the club into the next chapter without the internal storms that marked De Jongh’s final months.
